Students Helping Students: #GivingTuesday Collegiate Competition

Students Helping Students: #GivingTuesday Collegiate Competition

The American Marketing Association Foundation (AMAF) and the AMA Collegiate Chapters Council (CCC) invite all AMA Collegiate chapters to participate in the annual #GivingTuesday challenge on December 1, 2020.

The Cause

As the philanthropic arm of the AMA, the American Marketing Association Foundation champions individual marketers who are making an impact in our profession and community. As a college student, you know that support often presents itself as financial need. In 2018, the AMAF launched the Students Helping Students program and competition, an opportunity for collegiate members to give back to their community and compete with other chapters.

Chapters may not be able to be together psychically due to COVID; however, through the Students Helping Students collegiate competition, students can come together to help one another by fundraising for AMA Collegiate scholarships to support their peers.

#GivingTuesday is on December 1, 2020.

Our #GivingTuesday campaign is dedicated to raising funds for two collegiate scholarships: the Diversity Leadership Scholarship and the Social Impact Scholarship

The Challenge

Starting October 1, 2020, AMA collegiate chapters are encouraged to create and execute a fundraising campaign in support of AMA collegiate scholarships. The goal of this campaign is to get members, non-members, alumni, faculty, staff, family, etc. to donate to AMA’s “Students helping Students” campaign on or before #GivingTuesday (December 1, 2020).

Please share this donation form starting October 1st to encourage participation. (Please be sure to give your donors the correct name of your university. Remember, some schools have multiple campuses or locations, so be specific!)

Any amount is appreciated and all fundraising efforts can be highlighted in the Community & Social Impact section of chapter’s annual reports. (Note: total donations received per chapter will be shared on the AMA Collegiate website by mid-December).

The Rewards

Your chapter is eligible to win awards for your generosity to your fellow students. Special recognition will be given at the upcoming International Collegiate Conference to chapters that raise the most money. These awards will be given to both large and small chapters.

Awards/Recognition include:

  • Recognition at the 2021 AMA International Collegiate Conference for all participating chapters
  • The top 25 chapters will receive a certificate for their efforts
  • The top 10 chapters that identify and compete for the Top Small Chapter awards will receive a certificate for their outstanding efforts
  • The TOP chapter from the top 25 and top 10 above which raises the most funding will receive special recognition.

Your chapter can empower student leaders like last year’s winners by donating on #GivingTuesday, and receive recognition at the AMA International Collegiate Conference!
