American Marketing Association and the Digital Marketing Institute Expand Partnership to Prepare College Students for Marketing Careers

Sought-after Certification Provides U.S. College Students with Industry-Recognized Digital Marketing Credentials Upon Graduation

Chicago, IL—The American Marketing Association (AMA) and the Digital Marketing Institute (DMI) are thrilled to announce a new dual-certification that will provide students with digital marketing credentials upon graduation. This new dual-certification is available to students enrolled in academic programs across the U.S.

As part of this expanded partnership, DMI will evaluate and accredit university programs so that students enrolled in those programs will graduate with an Associate-level certification from both organizations in addition to their degree.

A 2022 DMI Survey noted that 84% of students and graduates from DMI partner universities say that DMI certification added practical digital marketing experience to their degree.

“We know that colleges and universities across the U.S. are seeking ways to increase the value of traditional education while working to equip students with job-ready skills upon graduation,” said AMA’s CEO, Bennie F. Johnson. “AMA and DMI are working together to prepare students with the skills needed to succeed in and transform the marketing industry. The dual-certification will empower marketing students to become highly sought-after professionals with the knowledge to drive exceptional results.”

“According to the DMI Digital Skills Gap Survey 2023, 75% of employers say they are more likely to hire candidates that have a DMI certification on their resume. This is why we are excited to partner with AMA to provide students with knowledge and globally recognized industry credentials that can be applied immediately to jumpstart and advance their careers,” said Ken Fitzpatrick, CEO of DMI.”

The dual-certifications for this new learning initiative are: Certified Digital Marketing Associate (CDMA) from DMI and the Associate Professional Certified Marketer® (aPCM®) Digital Marketing from AMA.

The long-standing AMA and DMI partnership helps marketers reach their full potential by offering the latest in digital marketing through professional training and certifications. Through this new program, students will now have the opportunity to take advantage of these opportunities.
