This award recognizes students who display exceptional leadership, dedicated service to the AMA, outstanding academic performance, and significant community involvement.
Student Marketer of the Year Nominations: Open September 15, 2025 and will Close November 12, 2025 at 11:59pm CST (Other Time Zones: 12:59am EST / 10:59pm MST / 9:59pm PST)
How do I nominate a Student?
All undergraduate members of an AMA Student Chapter are eligible for nomination. Nominations must be submitted by a Faculty Advisor, a fellow AMA Chapter leader, or a Marketing Professor.
Nomination Process:
Submit the following:
- Two Letters of Recommendation:
- One from the faculty advisor to the chapter of AMA.
- One from an AMA Collegiate Chapter Officer or a community leader who has benefited from the service or action of the applicant.
- Recommendations must be from individuals familiar with the nominee/applicant and their accomplishments and the letters should highlight these accomplishments.
- Each letter of recommendation should not exceed 400-450 words.
- The letters should highlight the following:
- Describe the nominee’s demonstration of academic excellence beyond GPA.
- Describe the nominee’s commitment to the field of marketing through their AMA Chapter involvement. (maximum half-page)
- Describe an experience related to the nominees’ AMA membership where they made a significant impact on-campus or in the wider community. Detail their leadership role, and their direct impact on others. (maximum one page)
- The letters should highlight the following:
- A Current Resume
- Answer 2 Essay Questions:
- How to Prepare the Essay Questions:
- Students must respond to BOTH essay Questions.
- Limit the response/answer to QUESTION ONE to ONE-HALF PAGE
- Limit the response/answer to QUESTION TWO to ONE-PAGE maximum
- Both responses should be double spaced and use 12pt TIMES NEW ROMAN font and saved as PDF files. (Judges will look for concise, well-edited, insightful responses.)
- Students must respond to BOTH essay Questions.
- The Essay Questions:
- Question 1. Describe how you have demonstrated academic excellence and a commitment to both your education and professional development. (ONE-HALF PAGE MAX)
- Question 2. Describe an experience, related to your AMA membership, where you made a difference on-campus, in the community, region, nation or world. Describe the ways in which you learned and what the experience meant to you. Consider the service you provided to AMA and your community, how you demonstrated leadership in this example and the impact you had on others as a result of your involvement. (ONE-PAGE MAX)

Selection Criteria:
A selection committee comprising AMA collegiate members will evaluate applicants based on the following criteria during the judging process:
- Service to AMA (1 to 10 points): Demonstrated commitment to AMA with evidence of leadership and integrity.
- Impact (1 to 10 points): Overall positive effect of the nominee’s work as evidenced by the recommendation letters.
- Leadership (1 to 10pts): Successful applicants demonstrate effectiveness as a leader on and off campus.
- Academic Excellence (1 to 10 points): Commitment to education beyond GPA as evidenced by their resume and supporting materials.
Award Announcement:
One (1) student winner will be announced at the AMA International Collegiate Conference. Presence at the conference is not required for eligibility.
