2019 AMA Winter Academic Conference

Austin, TX

Understanding Complexity, Transforming the Marketplace

The marketplace has become increasingly smarter and complex. However, marketing research on these issues is fragmented and constrained by existing frameworks and theories. Consistent with the ‘big tent’ philosophy of bringing together researchers who study marketing-related phenomena using various approaches, the 2019 AMA Winter Academic Conference seeks to attract exciting, rigorous research that is truly multidisciplinary and methodologically diverse. The focus of the conference on the issues of ‘understanding complexity’ and ‘transforming the marketplace’ underscores the importance of unpacking emergent marketing processes by a close examination of their complexity and identification of ways to transform the marketplace into a better world. To that end, creative applications and development of new methods and theories are welcome.

The AMA has negotiated special group rates for the Winter Academic Conference. You must make your hotel reservations by January 22, 2019 and properly identify yourself to qualify for the special group rate (based on availability). After January 22, 2019, the rooms will be released for sale to the general public and all reservations will be accepted on a space available basis at the hotel’s available rate – not at the group rate.

A valid credit card and deposit charge equal to (1) one night’s room and tax is required to hold each reservation. Cancellations made within (72) seventy-two hours prior to arrival and no-shows will forfeit the initial deposit of (1) one night’s room and tax. If you fail to arrive on your confirmed arrival date, your entire reservation will be canceled. It is hotel policy to require a credit card or cash deposit for incidental charges.

Check-in time is 3:00 p.m. and check out is 12:00 p.m. Anyone arriving earlier than 3:00 p.m. will be checked in as soon as room(s) become available. Guests checking out early will be assessed an early departure fee of (1) one night’s room and tax. If you wish to avoid an early departure fee, please advise the hotel before check-in of any change in planned length of stay.

Please note: Any hotel room booked outside the AMA negotiated block of rooms may not be eligible for the discounted rate and/or have a different cancellation policy.
