Why was this pilot started?

AMA initiated this pilot to elevate the value and engagement of your membership. The AMA Affinity Groups introduce an exciting community model that aligns with your preferences, offering more chances for meaningful connections and community building. Focused on shared interests, this initiative enhances your experience, making your membership more valuable, and fostering connections that truly matter to you.

What is the pilot testing?

The pilot is testing the desirability of a new community organization model within the AMA ecosystem. It’s assessing whether this strengthens the value of being an AMA member and exploring the potential for cross-community connections around shared interests.

What are the success metrics?

Success in this pilot will be measured through enrollment numbers, engagement in the online social forum (LinkedIn Group), and active participation in the virtual programming.

The AMA digital communities are intended to be welcoming environments that foster collaboration and positive engagement across AMA’s community of marketing professionals, scholars, and students. To support that goal, we have established basic guidelines for participation.

All community users are expected to follow the AMA Code of Conduct, AMA Terms of Use, and AMA Privacy Policy. The following rules and etiquette build on these policies in order to preserve a climate that encourages both civil and fruitful dialogue within AMA digital communities. Users who do not follow the AMA Code of Conduct, including these rules and etiquette guidelines, may be reported and face consequences as outlined in the AMA Code of Conduct Reporting Procedures.

AMD Digital Community Guidelines

  • Be courteous. Introduce yourself and treat others as you would treat them if they were at an in-person AMA event.
  • Be inclusive. Discussions within AMA digital communities should create positive and collaborative dialogue. Diverse voices and differing viewpoints are always welcome. All defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive, or illegal materials are strictly prohibited and will be removed.
  • Be transparent. Be open about your role within the AMA community or your company so other users have context regarding your contribution to a discussion.
  • Post thoughtfully. Consider which AMA digital community is most appropriate for your content or if an alternative platform is more appropriate. AMA reserves the right to remove messages and ban sources of commercial promotions.
  • Acknowledge ownership. Ask permission to use content created by others. Cite original authors when using content created by others outside of an AMA Digital Community.
  • Ask. If you don’t know how or are unsure of the appropriateness of posting content in an AMA digital community, feel free to ask a group admin.
