The American Marketing Association makes strategic shifts to prioritize diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts as well as the changing needs of its members.
CHICAGO, IL, August 19 – The American Marketing Association has announced the promotion of Chris Cole to Director, DEI and Community Engagement.
This newly created role intersects two critical priorities for AMA. The new role is responsible for the vision, leadership, strategic planning and implementation to inculcate DEI into overall operations of the AMA and within the programs experienced by AMA customers.
As Director of DEI and Community Engagement, Cole will serve on the newly formed AMA Board of Directors DEI Committee. In addition, the role is part of a strategic shift to better serve the college-aged cohort at a critical moment in higher education. Cole will serve as the primary liaison for AMA collegiate chapters and the undergraduate marketing community at large, setting the vision for how AMA will serve this cohort.
Cole previously served as a senior manager of community experience, managing programs and engagement within the AMA collegiate chapter community. He will report directly to Jennifer Severns, Chief Experience Officer, with an additional line to Jeremy Van Ek, Chief Operations Officer. He will serve on the internal AMA Leadership Team.
Severns states, “The flexibility and agility of our support center staff continues to be a critical driving force as we adapt to serve our communities, members and customers through unprecedented changes to a brighter future. We’re excited about the potential of this role and for the impact that we know Chris will have on the community and staff.”
