AMA chapter board leaders sometimes have to navigate the difficult terrain of challenging volunteers and resolving conflict among board leaders.
The AMA resource “How to Manage Challenging Volunteers” provides useful strategies for handling under-performers, negative volunteers, know-it-alls, territorial volunteers, and personality clashes. It also guides how to remove a volunteer who isn’t working out.
The AMA Professional Chapters Council also developed the AMA presentation and discussion resource “Volunteer Conflict Resolution ” that chapter board leaders can facilitate locally to address personality, philosophical and procedural conflicts.
