Onboarding Program for New Board Members

The AMA Support Center and the Professional Chapters Council (PCC) are excited to announce the AMA Onboarding Program for New Board Members. The course, available at https://amaboard.thinkific.com/ is designed to get new board members up to speed quickly and reinforce key concepts for established board members.

As you begin your summer retreats, welcome new board members for the 2021-2022 term, and begin working on your strategic plan, we wanted to share this AMAzing resource – open to all AMA board members.

The goal of the online course is to provide new board members with AMA-specific information about their roles and share important information about their responsibilities. The program is an online, self-paced course designed to help lay the groundwork for a successful board term.

The onboarding course itself takes less than one hour to complete and provides valuable information – whether you’re new to the AMA board or a long-standing board member. Additionally, it helps create a consistent onboarding experience for all board members across our 70+ chapters.

With this program, you’ll learn:

  • Basic information about the AMA
  • The benefits of board membership
  • Available support for you and your chapter
  • Your responsibilities as a chapter leader
  • How to access chapter resources and guides

As a best practice, we recommend that each board member complete the program within 30 days of the 2019-2020 chapter year. The program has been updated with new information about this year’s Regional Retreats, Leadership Summit, Chapter Resources, and much more. https://amaboard.thinkific.com/

As chapter leaders, our commitment to you is to provide value-added resources to make your time on the board productive. After experiencing the program, please share your feedback to continue improving the information provided. Please send your feedback to membersupport@ama.org.
