A Note From Karen Albritton, Chair, AMA Board of Directors

Dear fellow AMA members and volunteers,

I’m writing to share with you that Russ Klein has announced his departure from his role as CEO of the AMA to complete his planned relocation to Ohio. Please see Russ’s statement below.

During Russ’s tenure, the AMA has undergone significant transformation which positions us well for the future. We are grateful to Russ for his vision and contributions and wish him the very best as he embarks on this next phase.

In the interim, current AMA Chief Operating Officer Jeremy Van Ek will assume the role of Acting CEO as the Board of Directors determines next steps. Jeremy and the AMA team have done a phenomenal job of executing against the strategic vision for the organization and we have every confidence that we will not miss a beat. For our volunteer leaders in our academic, collegiate and professional chapter communities, we thank you for your leadership in your respective communities during this time of transition.

Best regards,

Karen Albritton

AMA Announcement

After more than seven years leading the transformation of the American Marketing Association it is time for a change. I have had the privilege to empower, encourage, and affirm thousands of professional marketers who will continue to make their mark both within the field and society.

I have decided to complete my planned relocation to Columbus, Ohio to unite with my fiancée and begin our next chapter together. I believe the AMA would be better served by a leader who resides in Chicago where the AMA Support Center is located.

I could not be prouder of the talented AMA staff and leadership team who will carry on realizing the AMA vision to become the essential community for marketers. I’m leaving a financially strong AMA well-positioned for the future.

I’ve had the honor to make lifelong friends and learn from some of the foremost marketing thought-leaders from both industry and academia.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to have carried the torch for the discipline, and I’m certain the AMA’s best days are ahead. It has been the most exhilarating professional challenge I’ve ever loved.

Positively,

Russ Klein
