AMA Diversity Leadership Scholarship

The American Marketing Association is proud to announce the creation of Social Impact and Diversity Leadership scholarships in 2017-2018, totaling a $10,000 commitment to our AMA student members.

Diversity Leadership Scholarship

The American Marketing Association develops leaders with exceptional qualities. An AMAzing leader serves rather than gives orders, translates vision into reality, inspires greatness in others, and achieves remarkable things through empowerment and action. The AMA recognizes our diverse student membership population and has created scholarships recognizing Diversity Leadership. Two Diversity Leadership scholarships (one of $3000 and one of $2000) will be awarded to two students who have demonstrated AMAzing leadership as part of their chapter activities or in other venues (e.g., consulting, course projects, internships, jobs, etc.).

In their applications students will describe how these experiences have prepared them to serve as leaders within the marketing profession and in society overall. In order to qualify for this award, students must be a member of the following minority groups: African American, Indian American (Native), Pacific Islander, or Hispanic American.

Applicants must also be current student members of the AMA and members of an active AMA collegiate chapter. Candidates should be involved in developing their marketing skills both on and off campus, including a demonstrated leadership role within their AMA Collegiate Chapter.

PURPOSE AND GENERAL CONDITIONS GOVERNING THE AWARDS

The Scholarship Program shall be administered by the AMA Diversity Leadership Scholarship Committee of AMA Foundation board members and AMA Advisory Council board members.

Scholarship applications and associated materials must be received by noon (12:00 p.m.) Central Time on February 8, 2018. The Scholarship Committee will review their pool of properly completed applications to determine their designated award winners. Once approved, scholarship funds will be dispersed to each recipient’s university to be applied to their fall tuition expenses with any remainder given directly to the student. Scholarship recipients will be recognized at the Annual International Collegiate Conference.

In the event the recipient voluntarily discontinues his or her university education, or fails to remain in good standing as prescribed by the American Marketing Association, (s)he shall forfeit all rights of the scholarship, and the money shall revert to the fund.
