The AMA Global Marketing SIG is pleased to announce that Melissa Archpru Akaka, Stephen L. Vargo, and Robert F. Lusch are the winners of the 2023 Excellence in Global Marketing Research Award. Their winning article “The complexity of context: A service ecosystems approach for international marketing” published in the Journal of Marketing (2013).

The Excellence in Global Marketing Research Award recognizes an outstanding article published in a widely recognized and highly respected refereed journal that has made a significant contribution to the literature on global marketing in the previous 10 years (2013-2022). A panel of past winners of the Global Marketing SIG award, current and past editors/co-editors of the Journal of International Marketing, and other distinguished academics appointed by the board of directors of the AMA Global Marketing SIG selected the winner. This year’s selection committee for the Award was comprised of Nicole Coviello (Wilfrid Laurier University and Committee Chair), Matthew Robson (Cardiff University), and Neil Morgan (University of Wisconsin–Madison)

The Global Marketing SIG thanks all who took the time to nominate articles for the 2023 Excellence in Global Marketing Research Award and especially appreciates all the work the award committee put into selecting the winning article.

The Excellence in Global Marketing Research will be presented at the 2023 AMA Global Marketing Conference in Santiago, Chile (https://www.amaglobalsig.org/santiago2023).
