Dr. Carol Motley, retired Associate Professor of Marketing at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, passed away peacefully at home last week.

After receiving her Ph.D in Marketing at The University of Georgia, Carol joined the faculty at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. She subsequently served as a faculty member at Howard University and at Florida A&M University.

She made numerous significant scholarly contributions, most notably in the areas of marketplace diversity, health disparities, cross-cultural research, and transformative consumer research. Over her career, her articles appeared in some of the most respected journals in the field, including the Journal of Marketing Research, the Journal of Advertising, the Journal of Public Policy and Marketing, the Journal of Business Research, and a host of other outlets.

Her family is planning a small, private memorial service for her, but has asked that we share our condolences in the form of donations to the Dr. Carter G. Woodson African-American Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida, https://woodsonmuseum.org/, where Carol served as a Board Member.
