Our field has lost another of its pioneers. Dr. Arnold Barban passed away on Friday.

Arnold was a founding member of the American Academy of Advertising. A brilliant scholar that served on the faculty at the Universities of Illinois, Texas and Alabama.

It was at Alabama that I got to know Arnold. When I joined the faculty there as an assistant professor, he was a senior scholar and he was the best mentor and advocate that I could have ever hoped to find.

Everyone that knew Arnold will appreciate the words his family shared, “His passing leaves a large void in our lives but everyone who came in contact with him over his almost 90 years on this planet is a better person from experiencing his intellect, compassion and love.

Rest in peace my friend and thank you for your help and friendship over the years.!
