Xiao Liu wins 2021 V. “Seenu” Srinivasan Young Scholar Award in Quantitative Marketing

A three-member committee of world renowned senior marketing scholars, including ex-editor of JMR and winners of several awards including the Gilbert Churchill award for lifetime contributions to development of marketing research, has unanimously selected Xiao Liu as the winner of 2021 V. “Seenu” Srinivasan Young Scholar Award in Quantitative Marketing. Xiao is an Assistant Professor of Marketing at the Stern School of Business, New York University.

The award is facilitated by the generosity of Stanford University, University of Memphis, and Friends of Seenu Srinivasan in honor of V. “Seenu” Srinivasan, Adams Distinguished Professor of Management Emeritus at Stanford University. The purpose of the award is to encourage and reward research on new quantitative and empirical methodologies that are of interest to both academics and practitioners of marketing as opposed to qualitative methodologies, or those restricted to use in lab experiment settings. A young scholar eligible for this award should have received a marketing (or related) doctoral degree no more than six years prior to the receipt of the award. This annual award is associated with a specific body of work which is either published or accepted for publication in scholarly journal(s) including, but not limited to, the Journal of Marketing Research, Management Science, Marketing Science, , International Journal of Research in Marketing and Quantitative Marketing & Economics.

According to the nomination(s) of the winner,

“Xiao is a rising star in quantitative marketing. Her research focuses on big data marketing where she embraces the challenge of analyzing large volume, high velocity, and rich variety data by developing machine learning, cloud computing and structural model solutions to solve important and highly managerially relevant marketing problems. She advances the frontier of methodology and bridges the gap between academia and industry by collaborating with corporate partners…. Her work is of high quality and besides her published work in top journals,…she has obtained multiple grants for her research. She also works closely with the industry (e.g. Alibaba) and studies issues of great relevance to managers. She is on the editorial board of Marketing Science and gives more than a dozen invited academic presentations every year. She has been also named an MSI Young Scholar in 2020.”

The winner will be recognized at the MR SIG reception and award ceremony during 2021 Summer AMA Conference online.  MR SIG welcomes you to the reception.  Details will be announced soon.
