HigherEd SIG Summer AMA Special Session:
The Response of Higher Education Institutions to COVID-19
The Marketing for Higher Education Special Interest Group (Higher Ed SIG) is pleased to announce its special session at the virtual 2021 American Marketing Association Summer Educators’ Conference.
While the effects of COVID-19 and the health guidelines implemented to reduce the spread of disease have seriously disrupted higher education, the full magnitude of the changes and long-term consequences of the pandemic have yet to be fully realized. This special session aims to facilitate the important conversation of how higher education institutions have responded to COVID-19 and focuses on topics such as the impact of COVID-19 on enrollment, changes in class modality and use of technology, best practices in responding to pandemic-induced challenges, and long-term effects of such changes on higher education, in general, and marketing education, in specific.
The special session at the 2021 AMA Summer Marketing Educators’ Conference will follow a moderated panel format and will be an interactive discussion among four experts:
- Dr. Leonard L. Berry, Distinguished Professor of Marketing, Texas A&M University
- Dr. Sandeep Krishnamurthy, Dean of the School of Business, University of Washington Bothell
- Dr. David Fithian, President of Clark University
- Dr. Chris Dede, Timothy Wirth Professor in Learning Technologies, Harvard University
The session will be moderated by Dr. Sandeep Krishnamurthy and chaired by Dr. Atefeh Yazdanparast, Clark University, and Dr. Prachi Gala, Kennesaw State University.
