GM SIG Significant Contributions to Global Marketing Award

The Global Marketing SIG is pleased to announce that Adamantios Diamantopoulos, Chair of International Marketing at Vienna University, is the recipient of the 2021 Significant Contributions to Global Marketing Award.

The Significant Contributions Award honors a scholar who has contributed significantly to the field of global marketing. A panel of past winners of the Significant Contributions award, current and past editors/co-editors of the Journal of International Marketing, and other distinguished academics appointed by the board of directors of the AMA Global Marketing SIG selected the winner. This year’s selection committee for the Award was comprised of Bodo B. Schlegelmilch (WU Vienna University of Economics & Business and Committee Chair), Nicole Coviello (Wilfrid Laurier University), and Peter Magnusson (University of Alabama).

Professor Diamantopoulos has contributed to the field of international marketing for over four decades. His research spans from export strategy to methodological contributions. Arguably, he is the leading scholar in the country-of-origin domain. The impact of his research is reflected in his exceptionally strong citation record. Dr. Diamantopoulos has been cited well over 40,000 times in Google Scholar. In a recent Journal of International Marketing analysis, he also has been identified as the most prolific contributor to the journal between 1993 and 2019.

In addition to his scholarly work in international marketing, Dr. Diamantopoulos has been a mentor to numerous doctoral students, some of whom are now working as academics in international marketing in different countries and universities.

The Global Marketing SIG thanks the selection committee for all their hard work in determining the winner and everyone who nominated a very worthy slate of scholars for the award.
