Marketing Strategy SIG LogoThe AMA Marketing Strategy SIG is delighted to announce that Frank Germann is the winner of the 2021 Varadarajan Award for Early Career Contributions to Marketing Strategy Research. A three-member selection committee consisting of Sundar Bharadwaj, Neil Morgan, and P.K.Kannan found Prof. Germann’s research accomplishments to be highly commendable and deserving of this year’s award.

Prof. Germann earned his Ph.D. in Marketing from Pennsylvania State University in 2012. He is currently an Associate Professor of Marketing at the Mendoza College of Business, University of Notre Dame. His research focuses on marketing strategy, specifically how marketing actions (e.g., the use of marketing/customer analytics; advertising), marketing personnel (e.g., the chief marketing officer), and marketing assets (e.g., brands) influence firm performance. Prof. Germann’s research has been published in top academic journals, including the Journal of Marketing and Journal of Consumer Research.  Prof. Germann was named an MSI Young Scholar in 2017, and he has also won the 2020 Sheth Foundation/Journal of Marketing Award and was a finalist for the 2016 Paul Root and Shelby D. Hunt/Harold H. Maynard awards.
