On Saturday, May 15th, the academic marketing community lost a scholar, teacher, friend, and colleague, Marian Chapman Moore. Marian received her PhD from Anderson School of Management at UCLA and joined the marketing group at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business in 1980 as one of the five original members that helped create the group. Marian was a superstar teacher, winning numerous awards, a mentor to a great number of PhD students and a gifted researcher. She also served as the first Associate Dean for the Global Executive MBA and steered this new program to considerable success. In 2001, Marian moved to the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business where she continued her academic marketing career until her retirement in 2015, including serving as the first Associate Dean of Darden’s Executive MBA program.  Memorial contributions can be made to the 1693 Scholars Program at the College of William and Mary, Marian’s undergraduate alma mater, or to the First Tee of Charlottesville, where Marian served on the Board. She will be deeply  missed by many colleagues, staff, students and friends for her friendship and many contributions to the field and to the institutions she served.
