The AMA Marketing Strategy SIG is delighted to announce that Prof. Vikas Mittal is the winner of the 2020 Mahajan Award for Lifetime Contributions to Marketing Strategy Research. The three-member selection committee consisting of Marnik Dekimpe, Dominique Hanssens, and Robert Meyer found Prof. Mittal’s research accomplishments to be highly remarkable and deserving of this year’s award.

A 1997 Ph.D. from Temple University, Professor Mittal is the J. Hugh Liedtke Professor of Management and Marketing at the Jones Graduate School of Business, Rice University. Before joining Jones, he was the Thomas Marshall Professor of Marketing at the Katz Graduate School of Management, University of Pittsburgh. He is a former co-editor of the Journal of Marketing and the co-editor designate of the Journal of Marketing Research.

Prof. Mittal has been recognized as one of the most productive and impactful marketing scholars. His areas of expertise include customer satisfaction, customer insights, and customer-focused strategy. Based on his research Prof. Mittal has been the finalist and winner of many awards throughout his career, including the O’Dell Award for making the most significant, long-term contribution to the theory, methodology, and practice of marketing.
