After COVID-19: Building Purpose through Stakeholders in Retailing
October 29-30, 2020 – São Paulo- Brazil
Given the current spread of Covid-19, the global economy faces a crisis with major impacts on retailing and consumption. With the sudden behavioral change of the entire population, retailers’ reinvention capacity and its analysis become even more important. We must reassess the role of people in the way this sector operates. Retail activity depends heavily on people: customers go to stores or browse websites to buy, salespeople and other employees make the retail operation work, the community is impacted by the retail activity, the generation of jobs, and the offer of solutions to their needs. And the State, fueled by taxes and affected by the retailing´s economic impact, has the role of promoting the growth of a prosperous society.
What is the new consumer’s journey? What are the new roles of salespeople in this health and economic crisis? What are the retailers´needs, obligations and opportunities in the communities in which they operate? How do policy makers adjust the regulation of retail operations to contemporary society needs? And how does Covid-19 affect and change all those relationships?
The role of different stakeholders in generating and distributing value in the retail activity after Covid-19 is the theme of the 13th Latin American Retail and Consumption Conference (CLAV-2020).
CLAV welcomes researchers, professors, undergraduate and graduate students, interested or involved in research on the topic of retail, as well as retail practitioners or people interested in retail in Latin America and other regions of the world.

Considering the current global circumstances, you may be wondering what will happen with the 13th Latin American Retail and Consumption Conference (CLAV-2020), hosted by FGV-EAESP (São Paulo School of Business Administration), October 29-30. Given our responsibility in taking precautionary measures to ensure the safety of the participants, we decided on a virtual CLAV-2020 event. The theme of the conference is: “After COVID-19: Building Purpose through Stakeholders in Retailing”
We sincerely hope that the online CLAV-2020 will be successful with your help in spreading our conference website among your peers and students, and that you all stay safe and healthy in the meantime.
