Revisit: Education and Marketing

Introduction

Decision Making, Spending, and Consumption, Special issue of JMR and Conference, Austin, 21-22 Feb 2019; Deadline 1 Nov 2018

Education and Marketing – JMR Special Issue Conference

Worldwide, the consumption and provision of education—whether in the private or public sector—is one of the most resource intensive and consequential activities for consumers and providers. The National Center for Education Statistics states the U.S. spent $ 620 billion in 2012-13 on elementary and secondary schools. The College Board estimates the average, per-year, tuition and fees for the 2016-17 school year to be $33,480 at private colleges and $9,650 at public colleges for in-state residents.

The Journal of Marketing Research is developing a special issue on Education & Marketing edited by Rajdeep Grewal (UNC-Chapel Hill), Robert Meyer (Wharton), and Vikas Mittal (Rice University). We are pleased to host this conference to provide further context for the special issue and create an opportunity for interested authors to exchange ideas, provide feedback, and learn from each other.
