Paul E. Green Award

The 2017 Paul E. Green Award was awarded to Garrett A. Johnson, Randall A. Lewis and Elmar I. Nubbemyer for their article, "Ghost Ads: Improving the Economics of Measuring Online Ad Effectiveness," which appeared in the December 2017 issue (Vol. 54, No. 6) of Journal of Marketing Research. In this article, Johnson, Lewis, and Nubbemeyer develop a cheap and efficient method for online ad field experiments that allows marketers to measure the incremental effect of their online ads.

Garrett A. Johnson is an Assistant Professor of Marketing at the Questrom School of Business at Boston University.

Randall A. Lewis is an Economic Research Scientist in the Science & Algorithms team at Netflix.

Elmar Nubbemeyer is the Director of Product Innovation- Content Promotion Algorithms at Netflix.
