We are greatly saddened to report the sudden passing of Dr. Allen E. Smith, Associate Professor of Marketing at Florida Atlantic University, on June 9, 2018. He leaves behind his wife, Christine, and children Danielle and Hunter.

Allen earned his D.B.A. from Texas Tech University in 1982, and spent the last 35 years on the FAU faculty. He was a champion of undergraduate research and service learning, won multiple teaching awards, directed the marketing internship program, served as master’s program director for the college, served on many doctoral dissertation committees, and had a long history of academic publications and presentations. His contributions to the FAU Marketing program will be sorely missed, as will his boundless sense of humor and collegiality. He was also a long-time lifeguard.

There will be a viewing Wednesday, June 13, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., at Lorne & Sons Funeral Home. in Delray Beach, FL; with a mass on Thursday, June 14, at 11 a.m. with a lunch to follow at Ascension Catholic Church in Boca Raton, FL.

The family is asking for donations to the Florida Atlantic College of Business in lieu of flowers.
