Call for JM EIC

Introduction

The American Marketing Association seeks nominations and applications for Editor of the Journal of Marketing; Deadline 15 Sep 2017

CALL FOR NOMINATIONS
JOURNAL OF MARKETING
EDITOR IN CHIEF

Deadline for Nominations: September 15, 2017

The American Marketing Association is seeking nominations and applications for the editor-designate of Journal of Marketing (JM), the AMA’s premier journal dedicated to the development, dissemination, and implementation of marketing concepts, practice, and information. Nominations from marketing scholars throughout the world are encouraged.

The Editor in Chief (EIC) will serve a four-year term beginning July 1, 2018. Under the new editorial structure adopted in April 2017, the EIC of JM works with a team of two (or more) co-editors and a large number associate editors. The EIC designate and co-editor designates will begin phasing in on new manuscripts beginning April 1, 2018.

Qualifications and major criteria for evaluating candidates are the following:

  1. Recognized authority in the area of marketing,
  2. Evidence of outstanding service as a reviewer,
  3. Evidence of administrative ability,
  4. Evidence of commitment to continue to further enhance the stature of the journal,
  5. Commitment by the potential editor’s employer for resource support,
  6. Agreement to operate within AMA policies and strategic guidelines, and
  7. Willingness to make the time commitment.

Further information about Journal of Marketing may be obtained at www.ama.org/jm.

Nominations and/or application should be submitted in a letter of no more than two pages by September 15, 2017 to David Stewart at David.Stewart@lmu.edu and copy Matt Weingarden at mweingarden@ama.org. There is no need to provide the names of potential co-editors during this initial phase of the nomination process.

The Search Committee will contact all nominated EIC candidates to ascertain their interest in being considered for the position. Following a review of the credentials of the interested EIC nominees, the Committee will invite three or four EIC finalists to submit a more detailed, final round proposal. That final proposal may be written jointly by the EIC nominee and proposed co-editors, or it may be written by the EIC nominee alone, in which case the proposal should include a list of proposed co-editors. Candidates for co-editor can be a part of the editorial team of more than one EIC finalist candidate.
