GGS Seminars on: Advanced Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (3 ECTS)

Dear colleagues,

the German Graduate School of Management and Law (GGS) provides a series of seminars for doctoral students and faculty with an interest in research methodology. This year’s seminar is a three-day course on Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with Partial Least Squares (PLS), covering state-of-the-art PLS-SEM using the SmartPLS 3 software. During the first day, participants will receive a condensed introduction into the foundations of PLS-SEM and how to apply it by means of the SmartPLS software. Starting at the second day and continuing on the third day, the course covers advanced topics in PLS-SEM (schedule on request). The instructor will make use of several examples and exercises.

Instructor

Dr. Jan-Michael Becker is a co-developer of the SmartPLS software and an assistant professor in the habilitation system (Akademischer Rat) at the University of Cologne in the Department of Marketing and Brand Management. He received his doctoral degree in Marketing from the University of Cologne and his diploma in Information Systems from the University of Hamburg, Germany. He has been a visiting scholar at Georgia State University, Atlanta, USA and at University of Waikato, Hamilton, New Zealand. His research has been published in several premier academic journals, including Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly, Long Range Planning, Journal of Business Research, and Marketing Letters. Registration

The course will be held from September 11th – 13th, 2017 at the German Graduate School of Management and Law (GGS) in Heilbronn. Accommodation during the workshop is possible within walking distance from the campus (a list of nearby hotels can be obtained upon request).

Interested candidates are asked to send their application including a short letter of motivation no later than August 1st, 2017 to researchmethods@ggs.de. Applications will be reviewed and the candidates will be informed until August 7th, 2017. The number of participants is limited to 20 persons.

The course fee of 420 Euros includes registration, tuition, hard copy of all materials, temporary access to SmartPLS 3 (bring a laptop), coffee breaks, and lunch on campus. Cancellations after registration are only partly refundable. Upon completion all participants will receive a certificate of attendance including the awarding of 3 ECTS.
