Announcing the 2nd Annual Academy of Marketing Science (AMS) Doctoral Consortium

May 20-21, 2016 ~ Orlando, Florida

Consortium Co-chairs:

Dr. Todd Donavan (Colorado State University)
Dr. Brad Carlson (Saint Louis University)

Continuing its tradition of commitment to marketing doctoral education, the Academy of Marketing Science proudly announces the 2nd Annual AMS Doctoral Consortium, which will be held in conjunction with the AMS Annual Conference this May at the Contemporary Resort at Walt Disney World, Florida, USA. Doctoral students worldwide who are completing or have completed at least three years of their program are eligible for nomination. Students must be nominated by their dissertation chair or major professor (see details below). Only one student per university can be nominated.

The doctoral consortium kicks off at 12:00 noon on Friday, May 20th with the registration and a luncheon concluding at 3:00 pm on Saturday, May 21st. However, students are welcome and encouraged to also attend the 3rd Annual Theory Forum, sponsored by AMS Review and chaired by Manjit Yadav, which runs 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon on Friday, May 20th, just before the “official” kick-off of the doctoral consortium. To do this, obviously you would need to travel in the day before (Thursday 19th). There is no fee for students to attend the AMS Doctoral Consortium and Theory Forum; however, students who desire to attend the full AMS Annual Conference will need to register for it separately on the AMS website at the reduced doctoral student rate.

At the Doctoral Consortium, eminent scholars across the various subfields of marketing will facilitate interactive sessions focused on enhancing students’ research with the goal of preparing them for a career as a scholar. Due to a limit on the number of attendees, students will enjoy a small-group atmosphere in the sessions and also will have ample opportunities for one-to-one time to interact with the facilitating faculty.

In order to achieve the intended concentrated faculty/student interaction, attendees will be chosen on a competitive basis. Nominated students need to download and complete an application that can be found at the AMS website ( Then, please send all the following materials to

  1. Letter of support from your dissertation chair or major professor
  2. Completed application
  3. One-to-two page maximum (double spaced) overview of your dissertation
  4. Current CV

Please submit these materials by March 4. You will be notified by March 15 in regards to your acceptance.

The AMS home page includes links to information on the conference hotel (Disney’s Contemporary Resort at the rate of $219.
