JA Lit Reviews

Introduction

JA will add a section titled "Literature Review Corner"

Journal of Advertising creates a new section, Literature Review Corner

As advertising research has made considerable progress during the past decades and the volume of our research output continues to grow, there have been increasing calls for newer areas of research. Identifying unfulfilled research gaps requires researchers to move beyond their fragmented knowledge on a topic. Critical evaluation of a wide range of existing literature helps authors acquire a better understanding of a topic, of what has already been done, what the key issues are, and what research is needed to tackle these issues. However, despite their pivotal role, review articles are generally more difficult to publish because papers that do not present any original results are not considered primary sources.

For this reason, the Journal of Advertising (JA) has created a new journal section, Literature Review Corner, to regularly publish review articles. Researchers are invited to submit rigorous literature reviews of existing evidence on any advertising-related topics. Preference will be given to reviews that attempt to transform existing concepts, constructs, or relationships into a theoretical model, or critically analyze the existing literature to identify contradictions or inconsistencies and make new predictions. Regardless of topical focus, the review should offer clear and specific future research directions. The literature search strategy should be comprehensive or representative, and a representative sample of a larger group of published articles should be well justified. Methods for synthesizing and analyzing the literature should be creative, systematic, and replicable. In terms of the review outcomes, we welcome innovative techniques for analyzing and presenting literature reviews. Finally, this section is not intended to attract articles with a ranking of most cited individual scholars as a main topic.
