The AMA invites nominations for the next Editor-in-Chief of J Mar Res; Deadline 30 Jun 2015
Call for Nominations: Editor-In-Chief
Journal of Marketing Research
Deadline for Nominations: June 30, 2015
The American Marketing Association (AMA) invites nominations for the next editor-in-chief (EIC) of the Journal of Marketing Research (JMR). JMR is AMA’s premier journal dedicated to the development and practice of marketing research. JMR publishes behavioral, methodological, analytical and empirical modeling work that focuses on understanding and predicting marketing phenomena.
The EIC will serve a four-year term beginning July 1, 2016. Under the new editorial structure adopted in July 2014, the EIC of JMR works with a team of three co-editors and a large number associate editors. The EIC designate and co-editor designates will begin phasing in on new manuscripts beginning April 1, 2016.
Qualifications and major criteria for evaluating candidates include:
- Recognized authority in the area of marketing research
- Evidence of outstanding service in capacities such as associate editor and reviewer
- Evidence of administrative ability
- Philosophy and ideas to improve the success of the journal
- Commitment by the potential EIC’s employer to provide resource support
- Agreement to operate within AMA policies and strategic guidelines
- Willingness to make the time commitment.
Further information about Journal of Marketing Research may be obtained at
Nominations for EIC, including self-nominations, should include the EIC nominee’s CV and should be sent to Dr. Rajan Varadarajan (Vice President for Publications – AMA Journals and Chair of the Search Committee), either by e-mail (email@example.com) or surface mail, no later than June 30, 2015. (There is no need to provide the names of potential co-editors during this initial phase of the nomination process.)
The Search Committee will contact all nominated EIC candidates to ascertain their interest in being considered for the position. Following a review of the credentials of the interested EIC nominees, the Committee will invite three or four EIC finalists to submit a more detailed, final round proposal. That final proposal may be written jointly by the EIC nominee and proposed co-editors, or it may be written by the EIC nominee alone, in which case the proposal should include a list of proposed co-editors. Candidates for coeditor can be a part of the editorial team of more than one EIC finalist candidate.
