Rajan Varadarajan Appointed AMA’s Vice President of Publications, Journals
The American Marketing Association is pleased to announce the appointment of Rajan Varadarajan as Vice President of Publications, Journals. Rajan’s three-year term begins July 1, 2014. Rajan is University Distinguished Professor, Distinguished Professor of Marketing and Ford Chair in Marketing and E-Commerce in the Mays Business School at Texas A&M University. His teaching and research interests include marketing strategy, innovation, e-commerce, international marketing and environmental sustainability. Rajan has published over 100 journal articles and book chapters, and made over 200 presentations at major national and international conferences, doctoral and faculty consortia, universities, and other forums. Rajan served as editor of the AMA’s Journal of Marketing from 1993 to 1996 and editor of Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science from 2000 to 2003. He currently serves on the Editorial Review Boards of a number of journals including Journal of Marketing, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science and Journal of International Marketing.
Rajan served as program co-chair for the American Marketing Association Marketing Educators’ Conference (1993), Academy of Marketing Science Marketing Educators’ Conference (1998), American Marketing Association Faculty Consortium (2001), and American Marketing Association Doctoral Consortium (2004). He also served as President of American Marketing Association Marketing Strategy Special Interest Group (1998 to 2000), member of Board of Governors of Academy of Marketing Science (1998 to 2004), and Vice President for Publications for Academy of Marketing Science (2004 to 2007).
Rajan is a recipient of a number of honors and awards including the American Marketing Association Paul D. Converse Award for contributions to the field of marketing (2008), University of Massachusetts Distinguished Alumnus Award (2008), Academy of Marketing Science Distinguished Marketing Educator Award (2003), American Marketing Association Marketing Strategy Special Interest Group Mahajan Award for Lifetime Contributions to Marketing Strategy (2003), Texas A&M University Association of Former Students’ University level Faculty Distinguished Achievement Award in Research (1994), Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science Best Paper Award (2009 and 2011), and Journal of Marketing Best Paper Award (2001).
