Successful products/services are ones that meet customer needs, are innovative and that offer value. The higher the customer receives value, the more the provider obtains excellent profit margins. As the most promising method for understanding the customers and designing/improving products and services accordingly, Quality Function Deployment (QFD) has been updated over time starting from the co-founder Akao’s original QFD process. It is now evolved to an integrated and tailored methodology to know where the resources will be most effectively utilized to create value for organization and their customers.

As a continuation of an ongoing tradition for many years, the 20th International Symposium on QFD offers a great opportunity for presenters and participants to share business experiences and research findings with national and international QFD professionals, and to learn new updates and trends in QFD and other relevant methodologies.

The 20th International Symposium on QFD, organized by Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Business and supported by International Council for QFD (ICQFD), will be held on September 4 – 5, 2014 in Istanbul, Turkey. Researchers and practitioners from all sectors and countries are welcome to explore how QFD drives to work on the right things and make long-term improvements in creating a value.

Submissions

Topics of interest include but not limited to;

• QFD success stories
• Research papers that contribute to theoretical basis of QFD
• Applications in different sectors
• Innovative applications and case studies integrated with different concepts such as Theory of Constraints, Kansei Engineering, AHP, TRIZ, Robust Design and Taguchi methods, Policy Deployment, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Lean Sigma, New Lanchester Strategy, Benchmarking, other planning, problem solving and process improving methods.

The papers will be peer reviewed. Paper selection will be made on the basis of technical quality, interest to the natural symposium audiences, originality of topic and approach, relevance to the symposium, value of contribution to the QFD world and commitment in-person presentation at the symposium. The symposium committee will consider the peer reviewer’s comments, their own impressions of the submission, and the shape of the overall program in selecting papers.

• Final paper submission : May 5th , 2014
