The competition is limited to 10 university teams. The goals of the competition are to promote and build the field of service marketing, secure jobs for students, and create more relationships between service marketing executives and academia. The deadline to register for the competition is Friday, November 22, 2013, 5:00 p.m. EST.

The NSMC will feature 3 competitive events:

  • Service Blueprint Event: Each team will develop and submit a completed service blueprint for a sponsoring company’s service operation.
  • Service Recovery Event: Teams will be presented with a hypothetical service failure by a sponsoring company and tasked with developing a service recovery strategy.
  • Service Customer Complaint Event: One individual from each team will handle a live customer complaint.

Based on their overall scores, the top 3 teams along with the top individual from the Customer Complaint event will be recognized and receive awards and cash prizes with the 1st place team receiving $500 per team member, 2nd place team receiving $250 per team member, and the 3rd place team receiving $150 per team member.
