2013 AMA-MRSIG Churchill Award
The Churchill Award for lifetime achievement in the academic study of Marketing Research is given each year by the AMA Market Research Special Interest Group to honor Dr. Gilbert A. Churchill. This year, a committee comprising Dominique Hanssens, Robert Leone, Roland Rust, Shuba Srinivasan, and Russ Winer reviewed all nominations and selected the winner.
MRSIG is pleased to announce that 2013 AMA-MRSIG Churchill Award recipient is A. Parasuraman, Professor & James W. McLamore Chair in Marketing, School of Business, University of Miami Dr. Parasuraman is considered a pioneer in the area of conceptualizing, measuring and improving quality of service. His seminal work (with co-researchers Len Berry and Valarie Zeithaml) on developing a scale to measure service quality – SERVQUAL – played a major role in the emergence of services marketing as a distinct sub-discipline within the marketing discipline. Apart from having a significant impact on scholarship and managerial practice in the field of marketing research, Dr. Parasuraman is an award-winning teacher of marketing research. He has taught marketing research and research methodology courses at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels. His research contributions have been recognized with several “lifetime achievement” type awards including the “Outstanding Marketing Educator Award” (2001) and the Paul D. Converse Award (2012). As put by a letter of recommendation submitted: “Dr. Parasuraman has had an unparalleled impact on the discipline of market research in many ways, including his groundbreaking research, his outstanding teaching career, and his role as a mentor to scholars and practitioners.” Congratulations to Parsu Parasuraman.
