The Services Marketing Special Interest Group (SERVSIG) of the American Marketing Association (AMA) is pleased to announce the 20th Annual Services Doctoral Consortium, preceding the Frontiers in Service Conference, to be held at National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan.

The consortium is designed to help doctoral students, new faculty, service researchers, and managers from global service industries in their careers. By promoting an intimate and collegial atmosphere, the consortium provides a wonderful opportunity for participants to interact with the field’s leading services scholars. Exemplary topics covered during the event are:

• Doing relevant research for academia & business
• Identify an interesting research project
• Conceptualizing a research ideas
• Positioning your paper for a broad audience
• Going through the review process
• Delivering impactful Teaching
• How to start an career in academia
• Developing a pipeline of research
• Being a productive and effective researcher
• Developing relationship to other researchers and industry

This year, the consortium will begin with a welcome reception at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, July 3rd, and will continue with sessions from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Thursday, July 4th. The consortium presents unique opportunities for doctoral students to meet some of the world’s eminent services marketing scholars and to learn research tips, trends, and ideas from them. Doctoral students will also have the opportunity to “speed pitch” their research ideas to multiple scholars in the field of services marketing. Breakout sessions, lunch and mentoring groups will provide many opportunities for doctoral students to receive feedback and questions on their research topics.

Doctoral consortium participants must register for the conference in order to participate in the event. We highly encourage every attendee to participate also at the dedicated break out session to discuss his or her research projects with scholars who share complimentary interests. Consortium attendees who would like to participate in the breakout sessions should submit an extended abstract (ca. 1-2 pages) of their research project to the consortium chairs, Werner Kunz, University of Massachusetts at Boston (werner.kunz@umb.edu) by April 15, 2013.
