SERVSIG is pleased to announce our awards that were given over summer, 2012.
2012 SERVSIG Awards
The American Marketing Association SERVSIG Christopher Lovelock Career Contributions Award is presented annually by SERVSIG to an individual meeting the following criteria: 1) Career contributions should be of long duration, preferably 15 to 20 years, 2) Contributions to the services discipline should be significant, 3) Contributions to the services discipline should be frequent, and 4) Contributions to the services discipline should include recent contributions. The winner of the 2012 SERVSIG Christopher LovelockCareer Contributions Award is:
Ko de Ruyter, Maastricht University.
The “AMA Best Services Article Award” is presented annually by SERVSIG to the author(s) of the best article in the service literature published during the previous calendar year. The winner of the 2012 SERVSIGBest Service Article Award are:
Bruggen, Elizabeth C., Bram Foubert, and Dwayne D. Gremler (2011), “Extreme Makeover: Short- and Long-Term Effects of a Remodeled Servicescape,” Journal of Marketing,75 (5), 71-87.
The ASU CSL/Liam Glynn Research Scholarship Award is presented annually by SERVSIG. This annual travel scholarship was created in Liam Glynn’s name to honor his memory and is supported through donations made by Arizona State’s Center for Services Leadership. The winners of the 2012 ASUCSL/Liam Glynn Research Scholarship Award are:
(1) Sander F. M. Becker, University of Groningen, (2) Cinthia B. Satornino, Florida State University, and (3) Gielis A. H. van derHeijden, Eindhoven University of Technology.
Additionally, we would like to recognize the recipient of the 2012 JSR Doctoral Travel Scholarship:
Toennes Eller, Catholic University Eichstaett-Ingolstadt.
2012 SERVSIG INTERNATIONAL SERVICE RESEARCH CONFERENCEAWARDS:
The SERVSIG International Service Research Conference was held at Helsinki, Finland from June 7-9, 2012. The conference is held in a different country every two years and this year’s conference was hosted by the CERS Center for Relationship Marketing and Service Management at Hanken School of Economics. The following awards were presenterd at the conference:
Best Conference Paper:
"Polyphony, Discord and Harmony: Individual Experiences of Value in Collaborative Consumption Contexts" by Carol Kelleher, Hugh Wilson, and Joe Pepperd.
Highly Commended Papers:
"The Construction of Space in Customer Experiences" by Ritva Hoykinpuro and Arja Ropo.
"A Historical Exploration of the Global Service Marketing Community" by Cristiana R. Lages, Claudia Simoes, Raymond P. Fisk and Werner H. Kunz.
"An Exploration of Consumer Manipulation in Service Interactions" by Cheryl Leo, Dominique Greer and Beverley Sparks.
