Dear Scholars and Researchers,

4th International Summit of Istanbul Economists which is organized by Istanbul Association of Economists (IKDER), Faculty of Economics of Istanbul University, and Turkish Patent Institute (TPE) will take place between 08-10 October 2012 at Wow Hotels & Convention Center in Istanbul with participation of scho lars and researchers, policy makers, bureaucrats, representatives of business and NGOs from different countries.

As IKDER, Faculty of Economics and TPE we are pleased to invite you to join the 4th International Summit of Istanbul Economists which has a theme titled "New Ideas, New Products and Property Rights in Competitive Economy" to discuss current issues in a scientific environment.

In today’s world, all the fields of economic and social life deeply affected by the process of global transformation and change. These led to an increase in level of competition. Parallel to this development, it has been experienced significant improvements in areas such as innovation, new ideas and new products. Industrial property rights has become one of the leading elements of economic and commercial life in such a global economy where the international mobility of capital and technology are increasing rapidly.

Conditions of rapidly increasing competition in a globalized world made the p rotection of the industrial and intellectual property rights necessary which is one of the most important factors indicating the level of development of the countries. Therefore, property rights and their protection constitute an important part of countries’ current economic activities. However, not only the acquisition of industrial and intellectual property rights but also their management is crucial in terms of sustainability and competitiveness of firms. Hence, the importance of the issue requires more discussion.

The Summit aims to provide a scientific basis to discuss issues such as “New Economy and Global Competitiveness; New Product Development and Management; Technology Transfer Management; Industrial Property Rights; Intellectual Property Rights; Property Rights in Terms of Economic and Legal Dimensions; Industrial Property Rights and the Successful Examples from World; University & Business Cooperation, and other related topics.”

The Summit targets to bring toge ther scholars and researchers in the fields of economics and management, policy makers, and business professionals from different countries.

4th International Summit of Istanbul Economists will be held in Istanbul.

The official languages of the Summit are Turkish and English. There will be a translation service between two languages.

Interested colleagues should submit an online ABSTRACT of less than 250 words of text summarizing the proposed presentation by 12th August, 2012. Papers must be written between 8 – 15 pages (including bibliography and footnotes).

All presenters are expected to register online and pay their registration & accommodation fees by 28th September, 2012.

As the Executive Board of the Summit, we are requesting proposals for presentations on given titles from the respected participants. Submissions will be judged on relevance to conference themes, clarity of thought, fit in conference program and other criteria.

On the last day of the Summit, one of the papers will be awarded as Best Paper. A committee of reviewers will carefully read and choose the best paper of the Summit from the pool of papers submitted to the Summit. Previously published articles, papers, book chapters, etc. are not eligible for the Summit and the competition.

We would also like to announce publication opportunities for qualified papers presented at the 4th International Summit of Istanbul Economists. Qualified papers will be published in the International Journal of E-Entrepreneurship and Innovation (IJEEI).
