Call for Papers

Conference Theme: Sustainability, Accountability, Marketability

Green the curriculum. Demonstrate student learning. Be dynamic and engaging. At times it may seem as though business faculty are pulled in too many directions. However, these pressures also provide opportunities for teaching innovation and classroom creativity. The conference theme focuses on exploring these multiple mandates, originality and resourcefulness.

Suggested Topics for Position Papers, Panels and Refereed Papers:

Teaching

• Active learning strategies, simulations or cases
• Distance or web-based instructional tools
• Management of group projects or presentations
• Pedagogical styles for particular business courses
• Assessment of learning goals or outcomes
• Demonstrating teaching effectiveness
• Student evaluation of teaching effectiveness
• Relevance of business curriculum in industry

Research

• The role of research in tenure, promotion and merit
• The value of private or consulting research
• Examining business education pedagogy
• Employing new qualitative or quantitative research tools
• Collaborative approaches in research inquiry
• Involving undergraduate students in research
• Strategies for publishing and presentations
• The impact of publication type and ranking

Service

• The role of service in tenure, promotion and merit
• Peer evaluation of performance
• Faculty leadership and administration concerns
• Faculty involvement in curriculum development
• Fund raising, advising and committee issues
• Community service and outreach programs
• Any other topic of interest to business educators
