The Section on Marketing and Statistics, of the American Statistical Association will award up to three grants to PhD students who wish to attend the 2011, Joint Statistical Meeting in Miami Beach, Florida (July 30-Aug 4., 2011)

(yes, you get paid $600 to go to Miami Beach!). Each grant recipient will receive free registration for the conference as well as up to $600 in travel subsidy. Recipients will be asked to present their work at the conference as part of an invited session on Statistics and Marketing. Any doctoral student conducting research related to Statistics and Marketing is eligible for the grant, irrespective of his or her primary field of research or affiliation.
Applicants should submit the following documents to me (on2110@columbia.edu) before December 15, 2010:
The applicant’s CV
A short letter (one page) written by the applicant explaining his or her motivation for attending the conference
A short abstract describing the research the applicant would like to present at JSM
A letter of recommendation from the student’s Faculty advisor
The recipients of the award will be notified by January 15, 2011, and be recognized at the JSM conference.
