The Doctoral Students Special Interest Group is pleased to announce a number of exciting events at the 2010 AMA Summer Educators’ Conference in Boston, MA. The full list of events is below.

Important Note: Two of our events (the pre-conference symposium on Friday, August 13 and the luncheon on Sunday, August 15) require registration or RSVP. These two events are described in detail below. Please email lmcshane@business.queensu.ca if you have questions or concerns.

We look forward to seeing you at our events in Boston!

1) 10th Annual DocSIG Pre-Conference Symposium

Join us on Friday, August 13 at the Boston Copley Marriott (Room TBD) from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm. This Symposium is a great way to meet and interact with doctoral student colleagues and distinguished faculty, as well as gain valuable knowledge that will assist in career development. The Symposium is open to all doctoral students.

The morning will feature faculty roundtables (i.e., an opportunity to interact in very small groups with faculty) including:

Colleen Bee (Oregon State University)
Ray Fisk (Texas State University – San Marcos)
Debbie MacInnis (University of Southern California)
Greg Marshall (Rollins College)
Julie Ozanne (Virginia Tech)
Roland Rust (University of Maryland)
Manjit Yadav (Texas A&M University)

….and more!

Symposium participants will also attend a luncheon hosted by the Marketing Doctoral Students Association. In the afternoon, participants will attend a ‘Meet the Editors’ session. This session is hosted by the Marketing Doctoral Students Association.

The Symposium will conclude at 2:00 pm. At that time, it’s not too late to take part in the Theory Pre-Conference: Ideas that Matter: A Dialog on Enhancing Theory Development in Marketing. Although this event begins at 1pm, the session organizers are happy to have doctoral students join them following the DocSIG symposium. Alternatively, you can proceed immediately to the Pre-Conference Theory event following the MDSA/DocSIG lunch. See the AMA website for more details on both pre-conference events.

We encourage you to enjoy both pre-conference events!

****To register for the DocSIG symposium, please call AMA Customer Service 1-800-AMA-1150. COST: $10.

2) Sunday Luncheon

On Sunday, August 15 from 12:00 noon to 1:30 pm, you are invited to attend a doctoral students’ luncheon. Join us for lunch and keynote speaker Gerry Tellis from the USC Marshall School of Business. Please RSVP to Mitch Price at jprice@bus.olemiss.edu by Monday, July 26, 2010. There are limited spaces available, so RSVP early!

3) Joint Reception with Global Marketing SIG

We are also co-hosting a joint evening reception with Global Marketing SIG, so make sure to join us for some cocktails and networking.

4) Job Market Special Session

Please join us for a special session on the job market Sunday afternoon from 1:30-3pm in Boston Copley Room 1. We have a great set of faculty lined up to help keep you informed on the job market. Panelists include Jagdish Sheth, Peggy Cunningham, Lisa Cavanaugh and Remi Trudel.

Warm regards,
