Special issue on Marketing and SMEs

The purpose of this special issue is to provide a show-case for cutting edge contemporary research in the field of marketing in the SMEs context. In view of the contemporary competitive framework for SMEs including the challenges of globalization and dynamism of markets we intend to offer insights related to the marketing intelligence and planning within the SME context.

SMEs have unique characteristics and specific challenges in comparison with large organisations, and so researchers and practitioners need to understand and account for these issues. Papers are particularly encouraged that contribute to the academic debate and also demonstrate practical application for SME marketing researchers and practitioners. Specific topics might include the following, but papers of good quality on any appropriate SMEs marketing-related issue would be welcome:

  • The nature of marketing and its fit with the SME context
  • Marketing orientation
  • Strategic marketing
  • Operational marketing (marketing-mix)
  • Branding and SMEs
  • Researching within the SMEs context
  • Defining and delivering customer value in the arts
  • Internationalization of SMEs
  • Marketing activities and strategies in born-global SMEs.
  • SME marketing directed towards larger multinational companies in a local and international context.
  • Supply chain management
  • Marketing, SMEs and ethics.

The deadline for submission is 30 September 2010.
