Call for 2010 ACRA Doctoral Award Competition

The American Collegiate Retailing Association (ACRA) will sponsor two awards for Outstanding Doctoral Research in Retailing, in 2010. One award of $1,000 (First Prize) and a second award of $500 (Second Prize) will be granted at the 2010 ACRA Spring Conference (Orlando, FL).

Criteria

  1. Applicants must have successfully completed the proposal process of the dissertation and should have begun the process of conducting their research. We seek applications that address retail-specific topics.
  2. Examples of topics may include, but are not limited to:
    • Retailing Management
    • Visual Merchandising
    • Supply Chain
    • Retail Strategy
    • Store Operations
    • Consumer Behavior
    • Customer Service
    • Multi-Channel Retailing
    • Buying

How to Enter the Competition

  1. Each entry should be in the form of a journal submission that describes the nature, scope, methodology, and potential contribution of the research. The paper must be no longer than 15 – 20 full, double-spaced pages including appendices, models, figures, tables, illustrations, and notes. The text should be set at a 12-point Times New Roman font or equivalent. Papers longer than 20 pages will not be considered. Please include a title page listing the author’s name, institutional affiliation, postal mail address, e-mail address, telephone and fax numbers, and name of sponsoring faculty member.
  2. Each entry should include a cover letter, indicating the applicant’s academic advisor(s) and chair, and one letter of support from an ACRA member. Information on ACRA membership can be found at www.acraretail.org.
  3. Winners must present their work to date at the 2010 Spring Conference in Orlando, FL. to receive award.

Selecting the Winners

Decisions by the review committee will be based on importance and potential contribution of the subject to retailing; quality of conceptual development; feasibility and appropriateness of methodology; fit of research with ACRA priorities; and creativity. The award is not renewable.

IMPORTANT DATES

March 25, 2010: Proposal submission deadline
April 30, 2010: Notification of the Winners
June 23, 2010: Presentation and Award at ACRA Spring Conference (Orlando, FL)
