A Charrette is a real-world business competition; students in multi-disciplines (marketing, retailing, finance, merchandising, product development, interior design, etc.) across various universities work together intensely to reach a resolution for a challenge presented by a client. The challenge for the 2009 ACRA Charrette in Florida will be to develop a business plan (marketing/communication/merchandising/financial plan) and design a retail environment that embodies the brand image of a retail client and optimizes the opportunities that the retail client provides. Charrette provides students with opportunities to express their creativity, apply learned skills and knowledge to transfer ideas into actionable plans, work on real business/design issues with industry experts, and experience the value of teamwork in multi-disciplines.
