Tenure-track Assistant Professor in Marketing
The Marketing Area of the DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, CANADA invites applications for one tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Marketing beginning in July 2009.
Job Description
Applicants should have or be close to completing a Ph.D. in Marketing or a closely related discipline, with a demonstrated competence in research and evidence or potential for proficiency in teaching. Preference will be given to candidates with research interest and expertise in the general domain of firm level analyses in marketing, applied to areas such as innovation/new product development, marketing strategy, business-to-business marketing, distribution channels, pricing, etc. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, supervision of Ph.D. students in Marketing, and pursuit of research funding. The school will be admitting doctoral students in Marketing from 2009. An interest and ability to teach quantitative methodological courses at master’s and doctoral levels would be highly valued. The school is in the process of developing professionally oriented executive development programs which may provide further teaching opportunities.
The discipline of Marketing shares one administrative unit with the disciplines of Strategy and Health Service Management (under the Strategic Market Leadership and Health Services Management Area in the school). Interdisciplinary research leading to publications in top tier journals is highly encouraged. In the last few years the area faculty has published in journals such as Marketing Science, Strategic Management Journal, Academy of Management Journal, Organization Science, Journal of Product Innovation Management, Journal of Law and Economics and others. The Area faculty’s research programs have been generously funded from Canadian government sources such as SSHRC, CIHR, provincial sources such as ORDCF, and by several private businesses. The university also provides generous funds for research related activities.
