THE 2008 AMA SERVSIG SERVICES DOCTORAL CONSORTIUM
October 1-2, 2008, Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland
The Services Marketing Special Interest Group (SERVSIG) of the American Marketing Association (AMA) is pleased to announce the 15th annual Services Doctoral Consortium, preceding the Frontiers in Service Conference, to be held at the Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland. We are proud to acknowledge Arizona State University’s Center for Services Leadership (CSL) as the key sponsor and host for this year’s doctoral consortium. The generous support from the Center for Services Leadership enables SERVSIG to retain the low registration costs for the Consortium and offer travel scholarships for attendees.
This year, the consortium will start with a welcome reception at 6.30 PM on Wednesday, October 1st, and will continue with sessions from 7.30 AM to 5.00 Pm on Thursday, October 2nd. The Consortium is designed to help doctoral students, new faculty, and researchers and managers from the service industries in their careers in services marketing. By promoting an intimate and collegial atmosphere, the Consortium provides a wonderful opportunity for participants to interact with the field’s leading scholars and up-and-coming services marketing scholars.
Research sessions highlight important and emerging streams of research within the services discipline and involve stimulating discussions on current trends and cutting edge research in services marketing. Discussions include developing one’s own stream of research, and the various approaches used in examining research questions – behavioral, managerial, and quantitative modeling methods. Doctoral students registered for the Consortium will have an opportunity to present their research ideas and receive feedback from the Consortium faculty.
This year’s Consortium includes world-renowned professors and research experts in the field of services – Professors Neeli Bendapudi, Michael Brady, Stephen Brown, Ray Fisk, Dwayne Gremler, Dhruv Grewal, Katherine (Kay) Lemon, Cele Otnes, ‘Parsu’ Parasuraman, Roland Rust, Glenn Voss, and Florian Wangenheim among others. Paul Ballew, Senior Vice President of Customer Insight and Analytics at Nationwide Mutual Insurance Co., will speak at the luncheon.
