THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH DAKOTA in Grand Forks has two (2) tenure-track vacancies in Marketing with appointment beginning August, 2009, or earlier. Applicants should have the PhD in Marketing or related field (ABD considered), a commitment to excellence in scholarship and teaching, and overall abilities to contribute to a growing undergraduate program in Marketing. The Department consists of six (6) full-time faculty offering a complete complement of undergraduate courses, with approximately 140 majors. The Department resides in the Page Family Marketing Center, including a multi-purpose conference room, student break-out rooms, and a state-of-the-art computer lab. Candidates with interest/experience in teaching marketing research, brand management, and/or professional sales are especially encouraged to apply. Opportunities for interaction with the business community in the region are excellent and encouraged. The Department contributes to a stable MBA program (115 candidates), while the College enrolls approximately 1,800 majors among 9 fields (Marketing, Technology, Information Systems, Management, Accounting, Finance, Political Science, Economics and Entrepreneurship), and is home to the Center for Innovation (including incubators and conference facilities). The University includes schools of Law, Medicine, Engineering and the nation’s leading Aerospace training program. Grand Forks, a community of about 60,000, is a regional center for economic and cultural activities, with ready interstate-access to Minneapolis-St. Paul, and Winnipeg. Entrepreneurship Chair – U of North Dakota:
Undergraduate entrepreneurship program #9 in Entrepreneur magazine. Entrepreneurship major for business majors and certificate program available to all others on campus. Endowed chair attached to appropriated position. Associate/Full Professor with duties including: teaching undergraduate and possible graduate courses, research activity and involvement, and providing service for college-wide program. Department chair position also available.
University of North Dakota enrolls 12,500 students, the campus includes schools of engineering, medicine, law, and the nation’s leading aerospace program. College of Business and Public Administration (AACSB accredited) enrolls 1,800 undergraduates, 175 graduate students including 110 MBA students. College is home to the Center for Innovation, including incubator facilities and state office of SBDC. Greater Grand Forks area has a population of about 60,000, with a range of service and manufacturing firms.
Qualifications:
Requires Ph.D. or D.B.A. in appropriate discipline, expect business experience and prefer entrepreneurship, management of technology and innovation, commercialization background, and established research record commensurate with endowed chair. Experience in established entrepreneurship program considered a strong plus. Salary and tenure status negotiable and commensurate with experience. This position will have an August 16, 2009 starting date or earlier if possible. Review of applications will continue until position is filled.
