The Labovitz School of Business and Economics (LSBE) at the University of Minnesota Duluth invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Marketing at Instructor or Assistant Professor level beginning Fall 2009. Approximately 1800 undergraduate and 70 graduate students are currently enrolled in the school’s programs. Both the undergraduate and graduate programs are AACSB-International accredited. The school is housed in a brand new, state-of-the art building. There are currently 44 full-time faculty members in five academic departments: Accounting, Economics, Finance and Management Information Sciences, Management Studies, and Marketing. The School offers the Bachelor of Accounting, Bachelor of Business Administration and MBA degrees. Regional outreach is accomplished primarily through activities of the School’s Center for Economic Development and the Bureau of Business and Economic Research. The individual hired for this position will have responsibilities in teaching, research and service. The individual will teach undergraduate marketing courses in consumer behavior and marketing research as well as one or two other electives. Future involvement with the graduate (MBA) program is also possible. Currently, the teaching load is five sections (15 credits) per academic year. The creation of knowledge in the area of Marketing resulting in its dissemination through the publication of refereed articles in recognized journals is required. The individual will be responsible for advising undergraduate students and working with student organizations and is expected to engage in service activities with colleagues, the department, School, campus, community and professional organizations.

Qualifications

Required: Applicants must be ABD (with a clear plan for completion by September 1, 2010) or Ph.D./ DBA in marketing from a degree program that includes a minimum of two years of full-time residency and an empirically-based dissertation from an AACSB-International accredited school or a major national or provincial university. Candidates must have experience as instructor or teaching assistant of at least one university-level marketing course. Applicants must exhibit abilities, skills and enthusiasm consistent with teaching excellence and instructional innovation. They must be interested in using technology in instruction. They must demonstrate evidence of communication skills appropriate to a faculty position. The candidate must have a willingness and ability to teach consumer behavior and marketing research courses. Evidence of potential for scholarship is essential as is the demonstrated commitment to a research agenda in marketing. Applicants must exhibit a willingness to fulfill service responsibilities/expectations to colleagues, the department, School, campus, community and professional organizations. The willingness and capability to advise and work with students and student organizations are essential.

Preferred: Experience teaching an undergraduate consumer behavior or marketing research course. Proficiency in using SPSS software. Demonstrated excellence in scholarly activity leading to refereed journal publications.
