The Department of Business, Organizations, and Society (BOS) at Franklin & Marshall College invites applications for seven tenure-track faculty positions, beginning fall semester 2009. Five, including at least one in marketing, are in traditional functional areas of business education, and two are thematic positions open to faculty of any relevant background. This hiring initiative is part of a multi-year process of extending and refining the College’s signature undergraduate program. The department will move into a renovated historic building in fall 2009.

Franklin & Marshall College is a small (approximately 2,000 undergraduates), highly selective, residential liberal arts college with a fully integrated business program. The BOS Department ( expects research, teaching, and service competencies and offers a collegial and supportive environment. BOS includes courses in organizational behavior, strategic management, human resource management, business ethics, law, marketing, finance, and accounting. The teaching load is 3/2 and includes participation in the College’s general education program. Capability of teaching our introductory course is expected, and capability of teaching in multiple areas, including social science statistics and research methods, is desirable.

Applicants should possess, or be close to completing, a doctorate in marketing, strategy, international marketing, management, organizational studies, or a related discipline (e.g., sociology, economics, or psychology) or in other areas with a thematic emphasis related to our mission. Faculty rank will be at the assistant or associate professor, depending on qualifications.

We will begin reviewing applications on July 2, 2008, and continue until the positions are filled. We will be interviewing at the American Marketing Association Summer Educator’s Conference. Only complete applications will be considered. We will not accept application materials submitted electronically. Candidates should send a letter of application, indicating which position being applied for, curriculum vitae, graduate transcript, three letters of recommendation, teaching and research statements, and teaching evaluation forms to:

While ELMAR is free to posters and readers, AMA conferences and placement facilities are paid for by members and attendees. I would therefore kindly request that Summer AMA attendees register for the conference, and that job seekers and employers register with AMA Academic Placement. – ch
