MARKETING & STRATEGY DEPARTMENT – AVAILABLE FROM 1ST MAY 2008

The Marketing & Strategy Department at the Cardiff Business School, Cardiff University invites applications for the post of full professor. Qualified candidates in all areas are encouraged to apply. The postholder will contribute to the continuing development of research and research-led teaching within the area of Marketing and/or Strategy, providing research leadership in that subject area. The postholder will be involved in establishing a clear research focus, and in the development of faculty in earlier stages of their career. An established and sustainable publication record in very high quality journals of international standing is required, as well as experience of teaching at both postgraduate and undergraduate level. The Marketing & Strategy Department comprises more than 25 research active faculty who work in the fields of strategic marketing management, consumer behavior, ethnic marketing, strategy and international marketing and strategic knowledge and systems among others. Research activities relate to a wide range of topics within and across these areas. There is a strong commitment to developing faculty within the Department.

Cardiff Business School (http://www.cardiff.ac.uk/carbs/) is one of the most successful, full-service Business Schools in the U.K., regularly placed among the top ten of the 100+ business schools in the country. It has recently become a member of both the Association for the Advancement of Collegiate School of Business and of the European Foundation for Management Development. The School attracts world-class faculty hailing from 28 countries, including 47 full professors. Faculty occupy key positions in the leading international business and research associations and membership bodies and are in the editorial review boards of many of the leading academic journals. In the most recent Research Assessment Exercise, the School was awarded one of the top overall grades (‘5’), placing it fourth in the national ranking of Business Schools. Faculty at the School produce more than 550 publications annually, many of which appear in premier refereed journals. The School has over 2,500 full-time students, with 700 postgraduate students. It also has one of the largest doctoral programs in the U.K., with 150 doctoral students and exemplary completion rates. The School makes a useful contribution to both policy and practice on a local, national and international level, with research informing organisations such as the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, the United Nations, the Treasury, the Department for Trade and Industry and the Department for Communities and Local Government, and working on consultation projects for blue-chip, global firms.

The postholder will contribute to research and research-led teaching in the area of Marketing and/or Strategy, having research skills and a proven record of research or clear evidence of the potential to develop such a record. Teaching experience and effective communication skills, with knowledge of and research interests in a field related to marketing and/or strategic management is required.
