To all marketing scientists

This is a rallying cry for action. Marketing science is an important component of INFORMS yet we see that the INFORMS conference attracts very few sessions from marketing scientists. In the last conference at Seattle in November 2007, there were only eight marketing sessions.

It is time to make INFORMS meetings relevant to marketing scientists. To make INFORMS a good meeting point, it is imperative that many of us become session chairs and be in-charge of relevant current topics. To become a session chair, pick a topic that is relevant to you and invite three good researchers on that topic to come and present in your session at INFORMS conference to be held in Washington DC October 12-15, 2008. A session lasts for 90 minutes and needs 4 papers. By this simple action, we will have made INFORMS meeting relevant again.

The deadline for submission of abstracts is May 15, 2008. Please let me know if you would like to be a session chair and please indicate the topic that you are interested in. I will be able to set up your profile on the INFORMS website and you organize your session using the website.
