SPECIAL ISSUE CALL FOR PAPERS
INTERNATIONAL TOURISM BEHAVIOR

Special Issue Editors: T.C. Huan and Joseph T. O’Leary
Deadline for submission: 15 October 2008

This IJCTHR special issue is to encourage consideration of behavior of individuals as influenced by personal psychological processes and by their social interactions relating to international travel behavior. A broad range of research on international tourist behavior is appropriate for submission. Papers may be either conceptual or empirical. Conceptual papers are expected to provide strong arguments and new theoretical perspectives on "micro" aspects of international tourist behavior. Empirical papers may have a macro or micro focus. All papers should include a comprehensive review and analysis of the literature and an elaboration on research strategy. Empirical papers must cover methodological issues; have a focused discussion of empirical findings with appropriate conclusions; and cover policy, planning or management implications. Submissions can be based on data for one country but research must have broad implications or applications relating to several countries. Possible topics are the following:

  • Affecting individual’s behavior by destination attributes
  • Affecting behavior by attracting international visitors with desirable behavior
  • Practical example(s) of effective and/or innovative ways of obtaining useful information about international tourists’ behavior
  • How residents are affecting international tourist behavior (e.g., how different perceptions of resident behavior affects what tourists do/don’t do)
