Assistant or Associate Professor of Logistics

The University of West Florida invites applications for one tenure-track Logistics faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, to start in August 2008. Preferred candidates will have a Ph.D. in field from an AACSB accredited school at the time of appointment. ABDs will be considered, but must provide strong evidence that the doctoral degree will be completed within the first year of appointment. Candidates for this position must demonstrate the potential to pursue a balanced commitment to excellent teaching, productive research, and active service.

The position offers a unique opportunity to work with Dr. Scott Keller in continuing to develop a Supply Chain Logistics Management Program at UWF. Research will be encouraged as well as efforts to expand the program and develop industry relationships. Currently a specialization in Logistics is offered within the Marketing Major. Preferred teaching areas may include Supply Chain Management, Transportation and Logistics Strategy, Global Logistics Management, and Procurement. Persons with teaching interests in Logistics Technology should also apply. Candidates may also expect to teach at least one marketing course per semester. Other areas may be considered. A normal teaching load in our department is three courses per semester, with opportunities available for summer support for research, program development or teaching. Salary will be AACSB competitive. While the position is housed at the main campus, it may require teaching at other university campuses.

The UWF College of Business is AACSB accredited and growing. It serves over 1,800 students with six undergraduate majors and two masters programs. The Marketing area currently has nine full-time faculty and is part of the Department of Marketing and Economics (visit us at uwf.edu/market). It provides a collegial environment for faculty productivity and growth. The University of West Florida is located in Pensacola, the crown jewel of Florida’s beautiful Emerald Coast, known worldwide for its pristine white-sand beaches. The area is famous for its pleasant climate and location on the Gulf of Mexico, and enjoys a comparatively low cost of living.
